[Hue 2.0.1][1] has just been [released][2]{.trackLink}. 2.0.1 represents major improvement on top of the Hue 1.x series. To list a few key new features:
[Hue 2.2][1] , the open source web-based interface that makes [Apache Hadoop][2] easier to use, lets you interact with Hadoop services from within your browser without having to go to a command-line interface. It features different applications like an Apache Hive editor and Apache Oozie dashboard and [workflow builder][3].

In the first installment of the demo series about [Hue][1] — the open source Web UI that makes [Apache Hadoop][2] easier to use — you learned how file operations are simplified via the File Browser application. In this installment, we’ll focus on analyzing data with Hue, using Apache Hive via Hue’s Beeswax and Catalog applications (based on [Hue 2.3][3] and later).

In the Hue versions before [3][1], Hue is sometimes getting slow and “stuck”. To fix this problem, it is recommended to switch Hue to use the CherryPy server instead of Spawning. In the [hue.ini][2] or the Hue Safety Valve in CM, enter:
Hue provides an [interface][1] for [Impala][2], the next generation SQL engine for Hadoop. In order to offer even more performances, Hue can distribute the query load across all of the Impala workers.
[Hue 3.6][1] and a team retreat in [Curacao][2] bring the second version of the previous [Search App][3] to some higher standards. The user experience has been greatly improved as now the app provides a very easy way to build custom dashboards and visualizations.

The [Solr Search App][1] is having a great success and users often wonder if they could use it without the Hadoop related apps. As the app is only using the standard Apache Solr REST API and Hue allows to customize which apps to show, the answer is yes!
[Hive][1] did a big jump by finally graduating to its 1.0 version version. It is even 1.1 now (equivalent to 0.14). Hue’s Hive and [Impala][2] Editor have been updated to take advantages of a series of their new features.
With the latest Hue release, the metastore offers better controls over partitioned Hive tables. Partitioning Hive tables is a great strategy to [improve query performance][1] for Hive-managed tables by avoiding full-table scans.
[Apache Solr][1] is getting easier to use! This new version of the Search app provides a general improved dashboard experience by refreshing only the widgets that changed and integrating better with live indexing. A series of additional new functionalities are detailed below.
The Notebook application as well as the REST Spark Job Server are being revamped. These two components goals are to let users execute [Spark][1] in their browser or from anywhere. They are still in beta but next version of Hue will have them graduate. Here are a list of the improvements and a video demo:

Hue continues to boost the experience of SQL users with its improved autocompletes, smarter assist panel, [SQL notebooks][1]... and now a revamped Hive Metastore Browser.
In the latest Hue available in the [master][1] branch, we're excited to offer a preview of our entirely revamped and redesigned query editors for Hive and Impala. These query editors will be officially available in the next major Hue 3.10 release.
Hue already integrates with Apache Solr and provide [Dynamic Search Dashboards][1]. With the [new SQL Editor][2] of Hue 3.10, Hue opens up to [any database][3], which is great as Solr 6 now provides a [SQL interface][4].
