  1. v0.3.0, released November 23rd, 2009
  2. Cloudera Desktop 0.3.0 is an update release from the previous version 0.2.0.
  3. In this release, we have focused on ease of installation and system
  4. compatibility. Additionally, we have included one new application, allowing the
  5. administrator to manage users on the Hadoop cluster.
  6. IMPORTANT UPGRADE NOTES:
  7. After installing Cloudera Desktop 0.3.0, the first username and password you
  8. use to log in will become your superuser account. After your first login, all
  9. subsequent accounts will have to be created through the User Manager
  10. application.
  11. NEW FEATURES
  12. - User Manager
  13. Cloudera Desktop now includes a "User Manager" application, allowing cluster
  14. administrators to create and remove accounts for the members of their
  15. organization. Additionally, the default authentication mechanism now checks
  16. logins against this built in user database.
  17. - hadoop-0.20-conf-pseudo-desktop RPM and Debian packages
  18. Cloudera now distributes a new package called
  19. hadoop-0.20-conf-pseudo-desktop. This package will install and configure
  20. pseudo-distributed Hadoop cluster as well as Cloudera Desktop on a single
  21. node.
  22. Please see http://archive.cloudera.com/desktop/ for more information.
  23. IMPROVEMENTS
  24. - Python 2.4 Support
  25. Cloudera Desktop has been backported to now run on Python version 2.4 or newer.
  26. This enables simpler installation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS 5.
  27. - Standalone Installation
  28. The previous version of Cloudera Desktop depended on network access during the
  29. installation process. The Desktop RPMs and Debian packages are now able to be
  30. installed in a disconnected/secured environment without requiring network
  31. access.
  32. - Significant internal refactoring / SDK Development
  33. Cloudera Desktop has undergone significant internal refactoring, working towards
  34. the goal of a publicly available Developer SDK. Several of the existing
  35. Desktop Applications have been refactored to use new reusable constructs, which
  36. we will be sharing with the community at large in the coming months.
  37. BUG FIXES
  38. - The requirement of Firefox 3.5 has been relaxed to Firefox 3.0 or newer.
