2.
Hue is a browser-based environment that enables you to interact with a Hadoop cluster. Hue includes several easy to use applications that help you work with Hadoop MapReduce jobs, Hive and Impala queries, Hadoop files and user accounts. The Hue applications run in a Web browser and require no client installation.

 4.
Hue applications run in a Web browser and require no client installation.

 5.
The following figure illustrates how Hue works. Hue Server is a "container" web application that sits in between your CDH installation and the browser. It hosts all the Hue web applications and communicates with various servers that interface with CDH components.

 7.
Starting Applications

 8.
To open a Hue application, click the appropriate tab in the navigation bar at the top of the Hue web browser window . To open a second application concurrently (or a second instance of the same application), open it in a new tab. Right-click the tab and select Open link in new tab.

 9.
Displaying Help for the Hue Applications

Clicking this takes you to the Check for misconfiguration page which will indicate the potential misconfiguration(s) with hints about fixing them.

 15.
Changing your Password

You can go directly to your own information by selecting Profile under the logged-in user name at the right of the Hue navigation bar. For more information, see the User Admin Help.

 19.
If you're experiencing transient errors (typically an error message saying a service is down), contact your system administrator first.

 20.
Browser Compatibility

 21.
Hue works in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Internet Explorer 8 and 9 are also supported.
